Medical Assessment

 

We take safety on challenges very seriously.

It is vital all participants fully disclose their medical information prior to departure. This information will remain confidential and is only viewed by the Challenge Leader and your expedition medic, if applicable.

 

The Challenge Leader and medical advisers are very aware that the challenge is not a small undertaking and it is very unlikely that you would be discouraged from participating simply because of medical conditions. You may be contacted for a short medical interview to discuss your information further, but this is to help us work together to make an action plan should any medical conditions cause a problem during the challenge. It is rare you would be asked not to join the challenge but if there is any suggestion of a risk to your safety, we will endeavour to work with you to maximise your health prior to a future alternative challenge.

 

The challenges will be mentally and physically testing and can have a significant impact on mental health. Please do disclose if you have experienced any mental health problems, so we can understand how you wish to be supported during the challenge. Good preparation prior to departure will reassure us we are providing the safest and best care for you and serve to enhance your enjoyment of the challenge.

Please note - All participants over the age of 65 are required to provide us with a letter/certificate from their family doctor or specialist, confirming their approval for participation in the chosen event
