Get in the saddle for this great cycle adventure with Kilimanjaro on your right side the whole time.
Ride across the open African savannah of the Maasai land see wild roaming Zebra, Giraffe, and Wildebeest and then ride into the rainforest of the higher Marangu mountain slopes.
This unforgettable ride around the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro reveals all the diversity of Tanzanias nature and culture. Rural roads will take you deep into the wildlife, dense forest and open savanah.
Come and experience an exciting, challenging and unforgettable 345km cycling tour around the largest free standing mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro.
During this 9 day trip, you will be cycling 6 days and you will experience some of Tanzania’s most beautiful landscapes, vibrant villages and wonderful cultures.
From the Maasai people who inhabit the arid western plains of Kilimanjaro to the Chagga people who inhabit the foothills of the mountain you will get to discover, experience and learn about these wonderful cultures first hand.
Whilst on your journey you will cycle vast open grasslands rich in wildlife, lush green forests, farmlands, villages and towns. This will be one of the most challenging but satisfying journeys you will ever make.
Bikes are provided locally, or you can bring your own bike from home. Our local bike mechanics will help set up and fit your bikes ready for your journey.
Throughout the ride, our crew will set up rest stops along the way with refreshments to keep your energy levels up and our mechanic will be on hand at all times should you require help.
At the end of each rewarding day of biking, our crew will welcome you to your luxury camp, with cold drinks, delicious food, and a campfire.
Your journey will end in the Kilimanjaro foothill village of Marangu.
The quaint village of Marangu offers fascinating insight into both modern Tanzanian life and into the lives of the Chaga people who once withstood vicious Maasai raids through the ingenious use of tunnels.
You will visit these Chaga tunnels and venture down into the inky black darkness of the tunnels in which Chaga sheltered when the Maasai would raid from the lowlands.
Tour a locally owned and operated coffee plantation to learn more about the process that takes the beans from the tree to our cups. Try your hand at manually grinding and roasting beans, and reward your hard work with some delicious, fresh coffee.
Then take a leisurely hike through local banana plantations and quiet clusters of homes, down stepping stones to cross the river to a towering waterfall with cool waters beneath. The adventurous can even hop in for a quick swim.
